Airway Stent in Lung Cancer: A Narrative Literature Review

Lung cancer complications are the leading cause of death in lung patients. This study aimed to describe prevalence stent placement, indications for success and complication rates, prognosis airway placement patients with cancer. Malignant central obstruction (MCAO) is one significant complications. Insertion can restore patency more than 90% MCAO. Airway indicated extrinsic lesions, ≥ 50%, have patent below obstruction, not terminal state. The technical was reported be very high consistent range 95-100%. Early were relatively rare; however, up 87% long-term reported. Stent a risk factor lower respiratory tract infection, an adverse prognostic survival. stents should used caution discretion. With advancement development technology, various materials types being developed minimize outcomes.
